John McGovern. I felt like a ball in a pinball machine. It was in one of the two stands running the length of the pitch; most likely the Co-Op. Frightening as it was I asked a steward to be transferred to the opposite all-seater at half-time.

The same night I visited Villa Park for a match against Arsenal. With the horrifying Baseball Ground experience still fresh I choose to be seated in the second tier of the North Stand, viewing a packed Holte End.

Now I regret it till this day…. Han you have to be talking out your ass! Not checked fully but this would not be feasible. Umless Star Trek organised the games!

I think you may be mistaken in some of the details regarding the Baseball Ground fences. Having been a season ticket holder for many years I can confirm that all fences were removed, for safety reasons, in the immediate aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster. Indeed, by the home game against Aston Villa in early May , this was certainly the case. It was quite a bold move, but welcomed by fans. After several seasons in or near the play off places, Derby were promoted to Division One once more in The club became established in what became the Premiership as a mid table side until when they were once again relegated. After struggling to maintain a place in the second flight for several seasons, Derby returned to the Premier League in but found themselves completely at sea.

Having won only a single League game all season, they were relegated in last place, 24 points adrift. Adidas took over in as the club's kit partner and once again no-one could resist yet another makeover for Derby's long suffering ram.

The original gold text was changed to black in When Kappa started providing Derby's kits in , the version made a welcome return. For the season touches of blue were added to the first choice strip as a tribute to Brian Clough's team who wore dark blue shorts on their way to the club's first ever League title 50 years previously.

Background In attendances at Derby County Cricket Club were falling: a Midland Railway clerk named William Morley discussed the formation of a senior football team for Derby with his father William senior who happened to be a committee member of the county cricket club.

But after a horrendous season the previous year, which saw the cricket club lose all ten of its Championship matches, more revenue was needed, and needed fast.

At the same time, football was already becoming increasingly popular in the area. Derby Midland had formed in , and would go on to be founding members of the Midland Football League in , while the Derbyshire Cup final attracted a crowd of about 7,, a record figure for a match in the region.

With this in mind, and to simply give the cricketers something to do during the winter, Derbyshire County Cricket Club approached the Derbyshire FA, formed in The first few years saw them contest a number of friendly matches and FA Cup ties, losing their first competitive match in the FA Cup at home to Walsall Town.
