What is the difference between taken and taking

I have taken In your case the second example is correct, as your verb is in the conditional perfect which requires an auxilliary 'having' in this case, therefore the past participle taken is necessary.

Also, not only is I would have jumped in there and took the monkey out gramatically incorrect, it sounds wrong as well. Improve this answer. Both are correct sentences below. I already have taken the test. The words took and taken mean the same thing, but change how you form your sentences. It's mostly preference! Although, MANY people use 'will' and 'would' interchangeably even though it's not exactly correct. So you can use would, but it's not truly correct.

For example, Bobby: I can't believe the teacher took his items.. Samantha: Well, the teacher said she would take his items if he did not cooperate. But, if the event has NOT happened yet, then the sentence is; "The teacher said she will take his items if he did not cooperate". Since it hasn't happened yet, and isn't the past yet.
