I ordered three pair of shoes Saturday. It's Tuesday and all I see is "getting ready" on my account. The live chat thing doesn't seem to work. Nordstrom's is slow to ship certain orders, not all, but the customer service and support even after the purchase cannot be beat, plus the shipping and returns are free. I am OK with waiting a little longer because I am a happily spoiled Nordstrom's customer.
The few times that I needed something in a rush I paid for 2 day shipping and got my orders quickly. I've been surprised by how quickly my last few purchases from Nordstrom's arrived.
Next day one time. Two days the other times. The shipments originated in Pittsburg, which was not something I'd seen before. I live near Philadelphia. When shipments come from the west coast, yes, they do take five days or so, but I know going in that might be the case.
Like Joyce said, if I want it in a rush, I pay for the added shipping. And yes, Amazon is slow as molasses for non-Prime. I've had Prime for years and consider the two day free shipping the best in my case, only reason for keeping it. Regular Amazon has just gotten slower and slower according to family who don't use Prime. I ordered 4 dresses on the 16th and one on the 17th. One arrived yesterday, one arrived today, and I think the other 2 are out for delivery this afternoon according to the tracking information.
I'd say the shipping hasn't been as fast as I'd like for it to be, but it hasn't been overly slow. I used to think Nordstrom shipping was pretty fast, but it's definitely gotten slower over past few months.
I also used to think J Crew was really slow, but it's not as slow as Nordstrom Rack. Orders from the Rack take forever to ship! Yes, maybe a little slow on some of my past items. I do think they are shipping from both stores and distribution centers, so it depends on where the item originates. That said, I am so incredibly grateful that their shipping is free, always, and at any price item that I happily wait in anticipation for my item to arrive.
I agree with Brie. I will happily accept a little slowness in exchange for free shipping both ways. The free shipping is worth it, isn't it? I may have to return some of the dresses I ordered. I don't know until I get them, of course, but I ordered them knowing that returning them if necessary would not be a problem.
Wow, zombie thread indeed. IME I have noticed Nordstrom's processing times have been much better this calendar year. It's not the actual shipping time that bugs me as much as it taking several days to get sent out.
Of course, they were pretty bad last Christmas and NAS hasn't happened yet, so we'll see if they're any better once the busy shopping season begins. While I agree it is an old thread, I also agree that I'll happily accept Nordie's slow shipping in exchange for the fact that they accept returns with no questions asked, even after 30 days.
