Why does turles look like goku

He uses the same ones over and over, really. Slump, Chrono Trigger, etc. If you've seen Crono, you've seen Goku with red hair.

If you've seen Magus, you've seen a white Piccolo with hair. If you know what Marle looks like, you know what Bulma would look like if she was blonde and wore a ponytail. Lucca is essentially Arale as a grown woman. Frog's human form, Glenn, is literally a green-haired Vegeta. Aayla looks like Blonde Launch in caveman furs.

And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Akira Toriyama actually seems to be known for recycling the faces of characters over and over in new situations. Typically, I don't think about it too much. Just the artstyle. And we've seen a bunch of random Saiyans who clearly don't look like Goku in the backgrounds in random scenes, so I feel like it's not so much that AT couldn't think of anything else, he just decided that it was important that those characters look like him for some reason.

Whats funny was in the saiyan saga there were 3 saiyans not counting goku that he knew. Were classes even relevant at this point? Tullece looks like Goku because he is Goku. There ain't nothing to get, you just gotta have that shine. User Info: TheBetaItachi. How you gonna say Tullece and Goku in the same sentence? If you weeb, weeb right. However, Goku gathers the energy for the next Spirit Bomb from the Tree of Might itself and confronts Turles once more. Shocked to see him still alive, Turles and Goku have a tense standoff before blasting each other simultaneously.

Empowered by all of Earth's energy, Goku's Spirit Bomb instantly overpowers Turles, carrying him up inside the Tree of Might's trunk, causing an explosion that annihilates both him and the Tree, returning all of their stolen energy to Earth. However Turles' fate was changed thanks to Fu, who collected him from the point in time where he was supposed to die - just before he was killed by the Spirit Bomb - so that Turles could work for him in Age In anticipation for his revenge against Goku, Turles ate many fruits of the Tree of Might [8] - becoming far more powerful - and was powered up by Fu.

In the anime, he and Bojack get into a scuffle when Bojack is provoked by Turles's Saiyan heritage, before Fu stops them from fighting.

He catches their attention by explaining how he saved them from their past defeats at Goku and his allies' hands. At this, Turles declares he will not lose again. After a mock greeting as Goku recognizes him, he manages to get Goku into a chokehold, leaving Bojack an opportunity to attack out of revenge for the space pirate's death at his son Gohan's hands.

Turles and Bojack then proceed to power up with malicious auras similar to Cumber's and fight Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta respectively, Turles boasting about the power of the Universe Tree's fruit.

When Fu catches the Saiyan duo's attention, Turles and Bojack blast them from behind for lowering their guard. Turles and Goku continue to battle until Dogidogi, under the command of Fu, flaps his wings to freeze Goku and the others in place allowing Fu to take the opportunity to capture Tokitoki and escape through a space-time distortion. Almost immediately afterwards, unsatisfied with Fu's interference, Turles and Bojack make an exit in similar fashion.

In the anime, after Cumber takes down Vegeta, he is suddenly ambushed by Turles. Turles tells Cumber that he is the strongest Saiyan thanks to continuously eating the Fruits of the Tree of Might and thereby gaining endless evil power from it.

Demanding to see his true power, Cumber attacks Turles. When Vegeta gets back to his feet, Turles hits him again into a wall. However Vegeta manages to overcome the corruption, making that power his own. Vegeta easily takes down Turles telling him to train and come back if he has any Saiyan pride left in him. Turles replies that if it means that he will become a low-class Saiyan again, then he is fine with that.

Turles interrupted the Crimson-Masked Saiyan 's attempt to kill Goku, Vegeta, Cumber, Cell and Hearts by blasting him from the side, his pride reinvigorated as he tells Crimson not to underestimate Saiyan power.

Crimson then prepares to blast him into oblivion, but Turles only faces death with a smile as the blast reaches him, disappearing with the explosion. In the manga, Turles interrupts Cumber's fight with Vegeta by demonstrating his own Evil Saiyan state to clash evenly with the ancient Saiyan. The Berserk Blue Vegeta attempts to claw at them, but Turles easily kicks him aside. After conversing with the victorious prince, Turles literally lays witness to the arrival of Crimson and his overpowering of Goku, Vegeta and Hearts.

Just as Crimson is about to kill Goku, Turles blasts him from behind and tosses Vegeta a pouch with a Three-Star Dragon Ball inside, giving him a smile as Crimson blasts him into oblivion. Main article: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans series. In the battle, Turles fights against Gohan and is being beaten by the young half-Saiyan until the pollution caused by the gas weakens Gohan and the other Z Fighters.

Turles prepares a combined energy wave attack with the other Ghost Warriors , and they are about to finish the Z Fighters when Bulma appears and shuts down the Destron Gas generator. This gives Gohan the opportunity to take down Turles, as well as the other Z Fighters to take down their respective Ghost Warrior opponents.

Turles is brought back once more and powered up into Mirage Turles. He is sent to Outa with Mind Slug. Mirage Turles battles the Sea God but before he can defeat it he is stopped by the Z Fighters who defeat him and Slug. During the opening prologue shows a history change in Age , the Time Scroll unfurls and is stopped by Turles' foot and he is shown eating some Fruit of the Tree of Might standing next to Lord Slug and Mira.

After history is corrected, they watch the Future Warrior nearby as they return to the Time Nest unaware of the villain's presence. Later during the Saiyan conflict , Turles interferes by preventing Goku from reaching the battlefield where Gohan and the other Z-Fighters are fighting Nappa.

Fortunately, the Warrior is able to sneak away during the fight with Nappa and joins Goku in fighting Turles. Elder Kai wonders who he is and notes that he looks to be a Saiyan of some kind, before noting his similar appearance to Goku. Turles introduces himself and notes that he saw the Future Warrior fighting earlier and tries to recruit them, but Elder Kai tells them not to listen to any of Turles' drivel noting that his heart is a ball of pure evil.

Later on in a ruined city in Age??? When Lord Slug tells Mira not to order him around like a servant, Turles stops the argument from breaking out into a fight. He then asks Towa if she had gotten what he had asked for, she says she has and that he can take it with him. She then hands Turles and Lord Slug Fruit of the Tree of Might that had been amplified by the effects of the Demon Realm , granting whomever consumes it incredible power beyond compare.

Pleased, Turles vows to crush Kakarot with a single blow. They leave however Mira questions their loyalty and says Towa should reprogram them as she did with the Masked Saiyan, however, Towa counters saying they are a fine job altering history on their own and that she has everything well in hand. Turles then leaves the scene and Goku and the Future Warrior eventually manage to defeat Dark Burter restoring that part of the timeline.

Later after Trunks manages to return to his original body after it is stolen by Ginyu, Turles appears and grabs Goku from behind with a Full-Nelson , allowing Ginyu to hit him with the Body Change , partially restoring the timeline in the process. Ginyu attempts to thank Turles for his assistance by making him a member of the Ginyu Force, but he flatly refuses the offer but does provide Ginyu assistance in fighting against both Goku in Ginyu's body and the Future Warrior.

However unfortunately for Turles, the Future Warrior manages to correct history and return Goku back to his body, while Ginyu ends up switching bodies with a frog after his attempt to steal the Future Warrior's body is foiled by Goku. Turles confident that immortality is finally within his grasp with the Namekian Dragon Balls in his possession. They find Turles standing next to the Dragon Balls and Turles reveals his intentions to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to obtain immortality, believing that having both the Fruit of the Tree of Might and immortality will allow him to crush Goku and become strong enough to dominate Towa, Mira, and Frieza.

However, Slug stops him, revealing he wishes to obtain immortality in order to conquer the universe. Their argument is interrupted by the appearance of Trunks and the Future Warrior, causing them to call a temporary truce in order to deal with the Time Patrol. However, Turles discovers that Towa had altered the fruit causing him and Slug to swell with evil energy. Towa and Mira then appear and Towa reveals that she decided to use Turles and Slug as test subjects for perfecting a process she was developing where she can grant a person greater power in exchange for shaving off some of the recipient's lifespan.

Supervillain Turles travels through it so he can take revenge on Goku. When the Future Warrior arrives, they find Turles who greets Kakarot saying it has been awhile. Vegeta, however, doesn't recognize Turles and wonders if there are two Blacks.

Elder Kai notes Turles shouldn't be there and wonders if he came through the Rift in Time that Goku Black created by using his Time Ring in conjunction with his weird scythe , before noting Time Rings must never be used to create holes in spacetime like that.

Turles notes that this is an unexpected chance to finally take his revenge on Goku and the Future Warrior. Turles is the only villain that Goku Black interacts with, noting that he doesn't know who Turles is, before noting he doesn't seem to like Goku very much which he finds amusing, though notes that despite looking so similar the two of them still quarrel which he considers shameful before noting that wiping out mortals really would be a service to the universe.

However, Goku points out Black looks just like him too, but Black tells him not to be absurd as Goku is a mortal while Black himself is a god, thus the rules are different.

Turles responds by stating that he might as well take the opportunity to pare down the number of similar faces. While fighting with Turles, Goku drops Zeno's Button creating a new crisis as it is needed to summon Future Zeno to deal with Infinite Zamasu , however, Goku ignorant of this follows Vegeta's suggestion and ignores it to focus on fighting Turles and Black.

Though Turles is confident he can defeat Goku, he is unaware of the godly power of Super Saiyan Blue and how strong the Future Warrior has become. He notes they are too strong for just him, before revealing that he is not the only one to worry about as he did not come through the rift alone, as Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Super Janemba, Metal Cooler, and Lord Slug appear in Supervillain Mode. Turles disappears presumably escaping through the rift or succumbing to his injuries.

It is also revealed by Jaco that the Galactic Patrol considers Turles a wanted criminal presumably due to his activates as leader of the Crusher Corps. Turles himself is shown to have little fear of the Galactic Patrol as he believes them to be no match for himself and the Crusher Corp.

He is considered a low-class Saiyan warrior, which is ironic due to Turles' base power level being higher than that of other Saiyans of that tier though likely due to eating the fruit from the tree. He is able to effortlessly beat Piccolo whose power level was at 18, the same as Cui 's and Vegeta's during the Vegeta Saga even blocking his Special Beam Cannon with the palm of his hand and saying it only hurt a bit. When Turles battles Goku he is unnerved as he calculates Goku's power level at 30, and notes that it is skyrocketing compared to what it previously was.

Goku initially has an edge; driving him back, though Turles is able to fend off Goku's assault. After eating another of the Fruit from the Tree of Might and having his power amplified many times over, Turles easily defeats Goku even when he's using Kaio-ken x10, which would place his new power over , He then goes on to easily beat Piccolo, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, Krillin, and Chiaotzu and destroys Goku's Spirit Bomb - which possessed what was left of the planet's energy.

Turles also eats another fruit after this, possibly boosting his power to even greater heights though the energy from the fruit was being taken by Goku - so it may have not powered up Turles at all.

Turles is ultimately bested by Goku's second Spirit Bomb - formed from the energy from the fruit of the tree a Super Spirit Bomb according to King Kai in the dub. In the anime version of the Universe Creation Saga , when confronted by Bojack, Turles matches him evenly. When fighting Goku, he manages to be fast enough to catch him in a choke-hold after a diversion blast, and with a power-up from the fruit of the Tree of Might, is able to hold his own against Goku in Super Saiyan Blue form.

Transtic Nerve Posted July 14, Posted July 14, Does it really matter, it's just a animated show. The Saiya-jins are like any other mono-culture. They all look fairly the same, they all act fairly the same, and etc etc.

Piccoloku Posted July 14, Guest Solid Snake Posted July 14, He knew it was Dragonball Z, but also knew that 'an animated show' would cover it's category, which it did.

At Otaku, we strive to post things relevant to the topic that would help someone, and staying over 5 words is a major. Please refrain from doing this again. I'm not sure if it made a difference, but my version did not explain why they look alike at all. I guess it was merely similar Saiya-jin genetics. Impact Player Posted July 15, Not much is known about the origin of Turles or why he is the spitting image of Son Goku, but his reliance on the fruit from the Tree of Might made him quite the threat to the Z Fighters during his first appearance during the third Dragon Ball Z movie.

Turles himself has never been a part of the main continuity of the franchise, sticking to the films and spin-off series to threaten Goku and the Z Fighters from time to time. With this new look, it appears as if Turles is taking a page from the Super Saiyan 3 transformation.
