Going through any trial of life can be a joyous experience for a Christian if perspective is right. Allowing trials to humble and remind us not to rely on our own strength but depend wholly on the grace of God is a good response to suffering 2 Corinthians Remember, the Lord allows trials in our lives to wean us from trusting in and pursuing worldly things as well as to remind us this world is not our home.
If our suffering is because of our own sin, we must repent of the sin and ask God to be merciful. He may choose to withhold the consequences of our sin. When people who are suffering ask why they may not be looking for an explanation as much as comfort and empathy.

The sun cannot hurt you during the day, and the moon cannot hurt you at night. The Lord will protect you from all dangers; he will guard your life. The Lord will guard you as you come and go, both now and forever. He sits on his throne to judge, and he will judge the world in fairness; he will decide what is fair for the nations.
The Lord defends those who suffer; he defends them in times of trouble. Those who know the Lord trust him, because he will not leave those who come to him.
Trust him, and he will help you. So we can share in the sufferings of Christ. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
It helps us grow as believers and become more like Christ. They are the people he called, because that was his plan. God knew them before he made the world, and he chose them to be like his Son so that Jesus would be the firstborn of many brothers and sisters. It helps with developing character. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Trials help to build our faith in the Lord. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete , not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long — though I know not how to relate them all. You can help someone because you have been in that situation. Throwing around Scriptures will be hard to understand for someone who is grieving, but you can comfort them because you have been through the same thing and through the pain you trusted in God.
Trials give us a greater reward in Heaven. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. To show us sin in our lives. We should never deceive ourselves and try to hide our sins from God, which is impossible.
Your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down on me. Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; there is no soundness in my bones because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. My wounds fester and are loathsome because of my sinful folly. I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart.
All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart pounds, my strength fails me; even the light has gone from my eyes. My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away.
I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin. Many have become my enemies without cause; those who hate me without reason are numerous. Those who repay my good with evil lodge accusations against me, though I seek only to do what is good. Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God.
Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. To remind us that it is God who is always in control. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him. The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.
Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.
Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord, the one you teach from your law; you grant them relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word. Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in thy commandments.
Before I was afflicted I went astray; but now I keep thy word. Thou art good and doest good; teach me thy statutes. Trials teach us to be more thankful. Always keep on praying. Trials take our minds off of things of the world and put them back on the Lord. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
